We offer all the training you need to be successful, available at the home office, through self study, at conferences and online. We have developed our courses by working with top producers and using our experience working with tax and accounting professionals for more than 28 years. By affiliating with H.D. Vest, you can be assured of access to the necessary training.

National Conference

H.D. Vest sponsors an annual conference that provides you with an opportunity to meet with staff, network with experienced Advisors and take courses that will expand your knowledge base. Advisors who attend these conferences produce, on average, six times more revenue than Advisors who do not attend. Each three-day convention boasts more than 100 courses and attracts as many as 1,200 Advisors.

Programs

Mentor Program

This program is for new Advisors who want to work one-on-one with another H.D. Vest Advisor who has already succeeded at adding financial services to their practice. The Mentors are successful Advisors who remember what it was like to get started and who enjoy providing new Advisors with an opportunity to learn from someone else's experiences. Mentors help new Advisors set achievable business goals, identify resources and interact successfully with clients. Participation in this program is open to new Advisors who are ready to make a serious commitment to developing their financial planning business.

Coaching Program

For H.D. Vest Advisors who have made progress in their financial planning practice but have hit a plateau or decided they need specialized training on a key missing component, the Coaching Program provides an easy way to work with a highly qualified H.D. Vest Advisor with a commitment to coaching other H.D. Vest Advisors to help them achieve their full potential.

Chapter Meetings

H.D. Vest holds CPE-qualified half-day seminars every month outside of tax season in more than 120 cities. These workshops allow you to network and share ideas and provide training in current economic events, specific investment services, solutions, technical information and marketing ideas, as well as news on the latest corporate developments. You can meet local investment sponsor representatives, learn about their available services and discover how you can leverage them to build your practice.

Education

H.D. Vest Financial Planning Institute

The Financial Planning Institute (FPI) gives you a fast start to transitioning your tax practice to a growing tax and financial planning practice. You will get personal, face-to-face interaction with others learning the business, as well as with experienced Advisors who will co-facilitate the workshops.

Held at the H.D. Vest corporate headquarters in Irving, Texas, each two-and-a-half-day workshop emphasizes practical and direct applications of the business of being a financial advisor. During the workshops, you will learn how to approach your clients about financial planning, the hurdles that must be overcome to be successful and how to use the tools available from H.D. Vest. Through your experience at FPI, you will become comfortable with adding financial planning to your practice.
